Bringing Equipment IoT to Automotive Service Centers

Coats Connect is an IoT equipment tracking platform for store managers at national account automotive service centers, such as Costco Tire Centers, to track their shop's equipment uptime, usage, and store productivity. Equipment often found in these shops include tire changers, balancers, and automotive lifts.

As a solo UI/UX designer, I wanted to gauge interest surrounding the concept of Coats Connect, so I went to Walmart, Costco, and NTB shops to interview tire center managers and understand how they run their shops and manage shop equipment. I created an interactive prototype on Figma (password: Coats1601)  and loaded it on an ipad, so I could bring it directly to our users working in auto service centers. I wanted to see if any features resonated with these tire center managers, who would ideally be using this platform.

The goal was to establish the Tire Service Store Manager persona and their initial reactions to this equipment tracking platform.
